About the Authority
The Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) was constituted under the Meghalaya Town and Country Planning Act, 1973.
Initially, as per Section 8 of the Act, the Shillong Development Authority was constituted in March 1990, with its jurisdiction over the Shillong Master Plan Area.
Subsequently, in 1991, its jurisdiction was extended to cover the whole State, and it was renamed the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority.
MUDA today administers the Master Plans for Shillong, Tura and Jowai, and is the State Nodal Agency for several central urban missions including PMAY (Urban) and AMRUT.
